‘Hybrideae’ an exhibition featuring a group of bronze sculptural vessels opened in the unique Fredrikson Stallard studio space in central London. The event was a fully immersive experience showcasing the collection set against captivating video visuals with a live performance by celebrated cellist, Gerald Peregrine accompanied by a masterful electronic soundscape by renowned composer, Rosey Chan. The performance mixed classical baroque cello sounds in the form of Bach with contemporary avant-garde electronica played side by side, mirroring the intention of the artists presented works.
Hybrideae showcases the designer’s vision of working between the digital and the analogue through both organic and inorganic process. The end results show a symbiosis between the artists’ physically, their vision, the material and the process thus celebrating the art of making while suggesting the importance of authorship and authenticity in a digital age.
