Design Makes a Difference ‘A Child’s Chair Project II ‘ is the second initiative for the children’s charity NSPCC to raise vital funds for the Rebuilding Childhoods Appeal at the Pavilion of Art and Design, London. Francis Sultana in collaboration with the Rebuilding Childhoods Volunteer Board, including Bodil Blain and Sojin Lee asked leading artists and designers to customise the Vitra edition of the Verner Pantone chair (child size). Rather than simply decorate the chair, Fredrikson Stallard created a new piece as an homage to Panton by carving out the iconic outlines of the chair in the materials and style of their own classic sofa, The Pyrenees. The piece was exhibited at the event in October and was the first to be sold, with 100% of the proceeds going to the NSPCC.
