CAMOUFLAGE – A NEW OUTDOOR FURNITURE SERIES FOR DRIADE

Whilst most outdoor seating is predominantly made for the warmer seasons of the year, the celebrated design house of Fredrikson Stallard has created a new furniture collection that would look equally beautiful all year round. Designed as an outdoor collection with durable materials and finishes that would withstand year round weather, the collection is launched in two finishes, white and rust effect, both to complement each other, with the white underlining the more classical architectural and the rust more the contemporary sculptural.

The Camouflage collection is simple and bold, with its geometric design language acting as the canvas for the elaborate cutout camouflage pattern. The chairs and tables are easily placed pieces that would fit equally in the modern as well as the more classical environment, bridging the gap between outdoor and indoor and furniture and art. During the colder seasons when we might not actually physically use the pieces as furniture, they continue to live in their environment as sculptural elements, eliminating the need for winter storage.

Fredrikson Stallard comments: “We feel that we have created something new, something so obvious, but never actually realised into a commercial outdoor furniture collection before. Modernism killed so many of the human nuances such as the importance of sculptural aesthetics that make our lives richer. With outdoor furniture the design criteria was always to be able to fold, stack and store the outdoor furniture until the weather allow us to spend time outside again. We feel that this collection offers not just an alternative, but a new solution with duality that will allow the furniture to be left outside all year and additionally enrich our lives and environment as sculptural objects. Like a fallen tree or a flat rock, that would become natural seating and tables in warmer weather but have an equally beautiful life out of season, the Camouflage collection changes emphasis with the seasons. The Camouflage collection offers a unique versatile usage that would allow anyone to live with beautiful sculptural furniture. Just imagine this collection in a snow laden garden landscape – it would look fabulous when the snow lands on the pieces outlining the cutout camouflage pattern. The high chair would be wonderfully placed in the garden, maybe next to a tree, to create an instant place for privacy to read and relax”

The collection consists of – High Chair, Low Chair, Small Table /Stool, Large Table / Stool.

The press preview chaired by Deyan Sudjic – Director of the Design Museum London, will take place at the Driade Stand Fiera -Tuesday 12th April at 12.30pm.
